Social Media Coordinator

Mississippi Reproductive Justice Coalition is a fiscally sponsored strategic convening of organizations in Mississippi with a mission to protect, secure, and expand abortion, reproductive health, rights, and justice for all Mississippians through partnership, innovation, and action. 

Coalition partners include Faith in Women, Mississippi in Action, Mississippi Black Women’s Roundtable, Mississippi Votes, Immigrant Alliance for Justice and Equity, Mississippi Reproductive Freedom Fund, Planned Parenthood Southeast, Converge Access, Six Dimensions, One Voice Mississippi, Southern Poverty Law Center, The PUPA Project, and SHERO Mississippi. In early 2026, additional organizations will be invited to join the coalition. 

The Social Media Coordinator is responsible for creating, posting, and engaging with digital content across MAAC’s social platforms on a day-to-day basis. This person will bring the coalition’s voice to life online and support visibility for events, campaigns, and resources that advance reproductive justice in Mississippi. 

SCOPE OF WORK: 

  • Draft, design, and schedule content for Instagram, Twitter/X , Facebook, TikTok, and other platforms in alignment with campaign timelines and coalition values. 

  • Translate press releases and major campaign updates into accessible, engaging posts. 

  • Monitor engagement and respond to comments and messages as needed. 

  • Create visual assets such as story templates, reels, and carousel posts using tools like Canva. 

  • Support live coverage of events, press moments, and community actions.

  • Track digital analytics and audience growth and share brief performance summaries.

  • Develop digital communications toolkits (including sample captions, graphics, hashtags, etc.) to support the coalition-wide amplification of key campaigns and events.

  • Coordinate with the Communications Manager to ensure digital messaging aligns with broader strategies and timelines.

  • Support live coverage for major events and digital campaigns 

  • Represent the Communications team in full coalition meetings, committee work, and ad hoc working groups.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A successful candidate will have a strong understanding of and dedication to the reproductive justice framework. An ideal candidate will also have the following: 

  • 1-2 years of experience managing social media for an organization or campaign (personal portfolio welcome).

  • Strong grasp of best practices across Instagram, Twitter/X, Facebook; TikTok familiarity preferred.

  • Basic design skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Express). 

  • Familiarity with reproductive justice values and/or political context in Mississippi or the South. 

  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Strong writing, organization, and cross-team collaboration skills. 

  • Willingness to work occasional nights/weekends and in-state travel. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

● Travel, including occasional overnight stays 

● Driving for extended periods or long distances 

LOGISTICS &COMPENSATION: 

  • Part-time contractor position; compensation: $2,600/month

  • Expected duration: December 31, 2026

  • Remote, Mississippi-based preferred; must attend periodic in-person meetings in Jackson or elsewhere in the state. 

Consideration may be made for candidates based in other locations, but preference remains to those residing in the South.
